Exploring High School Students’ Cognitive Structures for Energy Concept Through Word Association Test

This research, which was conducted in order to reveal the cognitive structures of high school students regarding concept energy through word association test, designed a survey model. Word test used as data collection tool. After necessary information given students, they were three minutes and asked write first words that came mind about key concept. The study group research consists 202 studying province Malatya 2019-2020 academic year. 58 these are 9th grade, 46 10th 45 11th grade 53 12th grade. While choosing one purposeful sampling types chosen based on easily accessible situation sampling. obtained related tabulated using Microsoft office excel program. cut-off points tables, examined detail repeated taken into account, determined. Concept networks created line with determined points. In 189 different produced for by students. 114 not included analysis because had 4 or less frequencies, 75 analysis. Among analysis, most “petrol” (f = 30), “fossil fuel” (24), “electricity” (19), found be “potential” (28). comparison between classes, difference quantity quality is observed. It has been observed level increases, answers increases.
